The Jack Failla Method of Movement
A THREE PART SERIES
(6 Week Dance Boot Camp)

PART 1 - BASIC STRUCTURE & MOVEMENT
Basic Structure and Movement is about Stretch, Posture, Positions, and Technique using primary movement in Ballet and Jazz. These two distinct styles make up the bulk of all dance numbers seen in multi-media platforms. For Example; Pop-Video, Musical Theater, and Motion Pictures. These styles are particularly popular in the motion picture industry and Broadway in such productions as Chicago, Hairspray, and High School musical.
Week One: Ballet Movement
- Day 1: Training on Studio Etiquette and about primary positions and movement of Ballet.
- Day 2: Story Book Ballet- training incorporated into a short, Cirque-style routine.
Week Two: Jazz Movement
- Day 1: (Studio Etiquette) Training on Stretch/Isolation exercises, Jazz technique, and its diverse relation with ballet.
- Day 2: (Studio Etiquette) Warm up/isolations & stretch. Learn and perform a jazz based routine, to Theatrical (Broadway) style music.
PART 2 - HIP HOP FUSION
An innovative style of dance, this is most seen on the latest music videos. Combining funk and jazz, this style stands out on it's own. Instructed on a theatrical approach and geared toward music video, television, and motion picture productions .
Week Three: Hip Hop Movement
- Day 1: (Studio Etiquette) Warm up/isolations & stretch. Instruction on basic hip-hop moves incorporated with the core of jazz technique. Students will be assigned music and lyrics to learn for the next day's instruction.
- Day 2: (Studio Etiquette) Warm up/isolations & stretch. Taking an edited music selection, the instructor will cast and create a new music video routine using acting, lip-syncing and the latest hip-hop fusion movements.
Week Four: Dancing for the Camera
- Day 1: (Studio Etiquette) Warm up/isolations & stretch. Further study of the interwoven styles of jazz and hip- hop. Instruction on integrating movements with a strategic on camera technique, using the routine from the previous week.
- Day 2: (Studio Etiquette) Warm up/isolations & stretch. A run through rehearsal and then video recording of an in-class performance.
PART 3 - POETRY OF MOVEMENT
A contemporary free-form style implementing all forms of dance in a melodic state of motion. One might recognize this style of dance in tribal and modern dance companies. The purpose being to inspire imagination, freedom of style, and confidence in individuality.
Week Five: Free Form Technique
- Day 1: (Studio Etiquette) Warm up/isolations & stretch. Instruction on rhythms and free-form lyrical movements. This class will use all the tools of dance that were previously taught in the past weeks of the boot camp.
- Day 2: (Studio Etiquette) Warm up/isolations & stretch. Instructor will create an interpretive dance of free-form style, using ballet and jazz techniques. This dance will express the music and the movement as a platform for an intangible emotion or story. For example; happiness.
Week Six: Improvisational Dance
- Day 1: (Studio Etiquette) Warm up/isolations & stretch. This lesson begins with the instructor acknowledging the special gift each student has and directing the class, as a whole, in a dance presentation to be performed on the following day. This exercise will target the actor/dancer's confidence and ability to perform when asked by a director or choreographer at any audition or production set.
- Day 2: (Studio Etiquette) Warm up/isolations & stretch. Run through rehearsal. Student perform for the parents in a short presentation of all the creative numbers produced. "Dance to the Top"- the fundamentals of how to prepare and make it as a professional dancer.

Dance is beneficial in many ways, affecting mind, body, and soul. Dance will not only help one in the entertainment business but in any career they choose because of the confidence and poise that it instills in them. Dance teaches self-discipline, body awareness, and respect for one's self and others. Dance improves motor skills, coordination, and agility, and makes exercise fun. Rhythmic movement of the body often creates a feeling of elation, release of negative emotions, and a freedom of spirit and soul. Dance crosses physical, mental, and emotional barriers.
about JACK FAILLA
Jack Failla, a native of Los Angeles, California, is a revered veteran in the dance world. He has traveled the world for the last twenty-five years, choreographing and performing in the world's most famous venues and shows. Jack spent much of his earlier years studying at some of Los Angeles' most talented and respected studios. He trained at such places as Joe Tremain's Dance Center, Stanley Holden's Ballet Academy, Dupree Dance Academy, Debbie Reynold's Dance Studios, and with Carlton Johnson. Jack sharpened his ballroom skills during months of study under European and National champions Pete Taylor and Ron Montez. Jack continued learning while performing as a lead dancer for Emmy nominees, Michael Darin (American Music Awards) and Ronnie Lewis (Liza Minnelli's "The Act."). To this day Jack continues to study, perform, and teach in an attempt to satisfy his unquenchable thirst for dance and expression through movement.

Jack Failla is known throughout Nevada and Utah for his children's summer workshops and his ability to bring the artistry of dance, on this most sophisticated level of celebrity, to the level of the most novice of children. He has an incredible ability to assess qualities in his performers and bring them to a higher level of performance. His pupils discover new facets to their own abilities on a regular basis.
